The Eugene 5K presented by OCCU isn’t your standard 5K. This race takes runners on an incredible tour of the neighborhoods around the University of Oregon, through the lovely campus itself and finishes on the track inside iconic Hayward Field. Up for an extra challenge? Both Krusteaz Flap Jack and Flap Jill run the Eugene 5K every year, and if you beat the speedy breakfast food in your category, you’ll go home with a year’s supply of Krusteaz Pancake Mix.

Race Day: April 27, 2024

Start Time: 8:00 a.m.

Age: Must be at least 5 years old on race day.

Packet Pick-Up: Pick-up race packets at the Health and Wellness Expo on Friday or in person on the soccer field west of Hayward Field (Finisher Field) on Saturday. 5K and Duck Dash packet pick-up on Saturday opens at 7:15 a.m. More details can be found here.

BEAT FLAP JACK OR FLAP JILL, WIN ALL THE PANCAKES YOU CAN EAT!

Participants taking part in the annual Eugene 5K presented by OCCU share one common goal: beat the giant running pancakes!  Since 2008, Flap Jack has been a fun, fast (and sometimes lonely) part of our annual 5K. In 2017 he met Flap Jill – the World’s Fastest Female Pancake – and now shares the spotlight as they try to beat everyone!    

Participants are divided into men’s (Flap Jack) and women’s (Flap Jill) categories. The rules are simple, beat the giant running pancake and win a year’s supply of Krusteaz buttermilk pancake mix!

While Flap Jack and Flap Jill’s fluffy appearances might give you a chuckle, never judge hotcakes by their girth. What they lack in aerodynamics, they make up for with their pancake-powered pace. Since Flap Jack’s debut in 2009, less than a dozen runners on average have been able to beat him to the finish line each year.

If you do beat the pancake, you will receive your year’s supply of Krusteaz pancake mix via coupons in the mail approximately 1-2 weeks after the race. Please make sure your mailing address is updated in your Active account.
