Eugene Marathon inks three-year agreement with OCCU

Eugene, OR — The Eugene Marathon has entered into a new presenting partnership with OCCU (Oregon Community Credit Union).

“We are thrilled to announce that OCCU will be the very first presenting sponsor for our Saturday events: the Eugene 5K and Kid’s Duck Dash,” Race Director Ian Dobson says. “Our ultimate goal as an event is to promote, encourage and support health and wellness in our community. OCCU shares that same vision, and it is our hope that in the coming years this partnership will have a positive impact on the health of children and families in our region.”

Eugene Marathon’s 2022 weekend of events will consist of the Marathon and Half Marathon races on Sunday, May 1 and the Eugene 5K and Kid’s Duck Dash on Saturday, April 30. All races will finish on the track inside Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.

“OCCU’s vision is to enrich lives and that is a charge we take very seriously,” says Ron Neumann, OCCU President and CEO. “We have a long history of supporting initiatives that help our community to thrive and we are excited to partner with Eugene Marathon as they work to encourage and support the health and wellness of our community.”

The partnership will also support programming in the lead up to the springtime races including school outreach and scholarship programs. In April of 2019, when the Eugene Marathon took place at Autzen Stadium, the Kid’s Duck Dash sold out with nearly 1,200 5–12-year-olds racing around the stadium and finishing on the 50-yard line.

OCCU Foundation (OCCUF) will also play a substantial role in the events by bolstering the impact of charitable donations to local organizations. In 2019, the Eugene Marathon raised or donated over $40,000 to local charities and youth groups.
