After moving to Eugene years ago, I quickly fell in love with the ample amount of opportunities to get involved. My favorite thing about the community is the people and the way that they treat one another. The respect and diversity of the culture are extremely amazing and reassuring in today’s society. Not sure of your race weekend plans? No problem! Feel free to check out some of the things that I have listed below. If you’re still on the hunt for more family-friendly activities, I encourage you to visit The Eugene Marathon’s “Things to Do” page here. There is something for everyone in this amazing community!
Eugene Saturday Market
The Eugene Saturday Market is an amazing opportunity to get involved with the heart of the Eugene community. Happening every Saturday until 5 pm, local artists and food vendors gather together to create an experience that will get you excited about the Eugene aesthetic. The Saturday Market is located at 8th & Oak in downtown Eugene, with free parking on the surrounding streets. Come and feel the unique and diverse experience that the city has to offer. More information can be found here.
Ninkasi Brewery is proud to offer a place for community and fantastic brews. In its tenth year of crafting, Ninkasi continues to promote a local and collaborative culture for everyone. Have little ones that want to tag along? No worries at all! Ninkasi allows minors until 8 pm in the tasting room, which is located in the Whiteaker district. Come and fuel your body while supporting local breweries in Eugene! More information can be found here.
DJ Yoga Flow
Let your inner Zen shine while participating in this new pre-race experience! The Eugene Marathon is proud to present an event that will help you feel relaxed and excited for race weekend. This funky and alternative style of yoga will take place on the Expo soccer fields at 4 pm on Saturday. Bring your mat, friends, and family for the spiciest Eugene yoga event of the year! The Twilight Meet is an extremely exciting opportunity to watch some of the best athletes in the world. New this year, all runners and volunteers will receive a free entry as a way of recognizing your extreme awesomeness. After the meet, lace up your best running shoes and experience what running on Hayward Field feels like in support of the community one-mile event. Check out this amazing opportunity on Friday, May 5th at 3:00 pm.
